Her Story
Caileen Uznis, principal designer of Caileen Designs, is a service-oriented designer utilizing a distinct “Think, Design, Do” process to take the fear and hassle out of starting a remodel project. She has been featured on Houzz and has more than 10 years experience remodeling the homes and offices of successful executives and young families in Malibu, Pasadena, Long Beach and other Southern California cities.
Throughout her career, Caileen has been able to create projects in a multitude of design styles, while keeping the results functional, livable and on trend. She has completed whole-house remodels, including specifying all interior fixtures and finishings, as well as selecting, purchasing and installing all furniture, while keeping the project on budget and on track.
Clients love that Caileen is organized and honest with a clearly defined and succinct process to help them design their homes, which allows them extra time and peace of mind they need to enjoy their busy lives. Caileen’s favorite part of the project is seeing her client’s first reaction to their new spaces and the excitement they have to show off their home to their friends and neighbors.
Caileen launched her firm in 2012 after working for several leading high-end residential and hospitality firms. However, in 1994 Caileen was given her first taste of interior design when she was given the freedom to redesign her childhood bedroom. After sharing her wallpaper choices with her mother, she was told that she couldn’t put the darker damask pattern on the top. Why? Because it just wasn’t done. Always a stubborn child, Caileen didn’t accept that answer and proceeded with her design as planned. That was the beginning of learning the rules of design and deciding when to follow them.
Having spent several years in the Film and Television industries, and then in Wedding and Event Planning, Caileen is the only Southern California interior designer to bring her knowledge of production and event planning to her interior design business. She employs local craftsmen and workrooms to offer her clients unique and high quality products specific to their style and space. Caileen stays current on design trends and innovations by attending national trade shows regularly and brings that knowledge back to her clients and their projects.
Credentials
Caileen attended the University of Southern California where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Cinema-Television and has completed coursework in interior design at UCLA.
