The Family Room departs from the rest of the project by being dark and cozy. Functioning as a media room for the family and game room for the kids, we wanted to keep the space comfortable but interesting. As with the other public spaces, having enough seating is key for this large family so we added swivel barrel chairs and round modern ottomans to the client’s existing smaller sectional. A modern entertainment center holds gaming gear and grounds the large television. The space is encompassed in a horsehair wallcovering in blue and black and accentuated with pops of dark orange. The grey Moroccan rug makes even the floor an inviting place to sit.
The Master Suite in this home is enormous, and took a large amount of furniture to fill it up. Because the bedroom area was so large we were able to fit a full size, super comfy chaise lounge, slipcovered club chair and an end of the bed bench. The ceiling height on the second floor of the home is actually higher than that of the first floor at 10+ feet, so the canopy bed that the client had always longed for was more than appropriate. We wanted to bring some texture into the serene space so we sheathed two walls in a white grasscloth to keep with the feel of the rest of the home but make it special. A cable knit grey rug brings warmth and comfort to the floor. Colors are soothing with white and grey, accented by ocean blue and the wife’s favorite chartreuse.
